Cardiology

Memfys Hospital offers Cardiology Services for patients with Cardiovascular disorders including heart disorders.  The Cardiology Clinic runs from 10am on Fridays.  This is a general Cardiology Clinic covering the following areas:

  • Preventive Cardiology including Hypertension, Diabetes, Dyslipidaemia, Obesity
  • Heart failure
  • Chest pain and Ischemic heart disease
  • Arrhythmias
  • Medical Counselling
  • Others

The hospital has both an adult and paediatric Cardiologist. Cardiologists can manage certain conditions using medicine and other available treatments and carry out minimally invasive surgery if needed.

Cardiac Services

The cornerstone of the Cardiology Clinic is the provision of prompt, qualitative and compassionate cardiovascular care in a conducive setting.  This is supported by well trained and professional staff as well as state of the art imaging and laboratory services. The Cardiologist also provides support for the medical speciality services provided by the hospital.

Cardiology Diagnostic services include:

MRI and CT

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging using the 1.5T machine. Cardiac CT scan using the 64-slice CT machine.

Echocardiology

This provides affordable and versatile cardiac imaging [using our GE Vivid iq 4D Ultrasound Machine] to improve evaluation and management of patients.

Electro cardiology (ECG)

12 Lead surface ECG is essential in any cardiology service and provides electrical and structural information about the heart to the clinician. It is useful in the management of chest pain and cardiac arrhythmias.

Holter (Ambulatory) ECG

24- or 48-hours ambulatory ECG testing is useful for the management of patients with cardio embolic stroke, palpitations, syncope etc...

Ambulatory Blood Pressure monitoring

Useful in the management of masked and white coat hypertension. Furthermore, major cardiology/hypertension society guidelines recommend the use of ABP for optimal hypertension management.

Cardiac Biochemistry

Brain Natriuretic Peptide (BNP): This is useful in the diagnosis, monitoring and prognostication of heart failure. In the emergency setting, it is used as a screening tool in patients presenting with acute dyspnoea.

Troponin T/I: This is used in the rapid screening of patients presenting with possible acute coronary syndromes.

D- Dimer: This is useful in the screening of patient with suspected pulmonary embolism.

Other supportive laboratory services

This includes lipid profile, Fasting plasma glucose/glycated hemoglobin, thyroid function test, complete blood counts, renal function test etc...
