Title: GEOGRAPHICAL NEUROSURGERY
Author: Prof. Samuel C. Ohaegbulam
Contributions: George Ablin, MD & Chima Ohaegbulam, MD
Publisher: Congress of Neurological Surgeons USA
The author has been fortunate to practice neurosurgery in Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States of America and the experiences opened his eyes to the geographical differences in the incidence and prevalence of neurosurgical diseases. Neurosurgery is, no doubt, the same the world over but geographical and ethnological variations exist. The epidemiology of neurosurgical diseases like medicine in general in the modern world, is influenced by the effects of migration, refugees, wars and the movements of military and civilian relief personnel to name but a few. Not many populations are therefore stable, rather, most are dynamic due to these and other influences. Diseases once considered very rare or conquered in some parts have again reared their heads in the same and other places, mainly because of modern fast transportation and the effects of population migrations. This book is an attempt to look at neurosurgery from a geographical perspective.
